Charleston is internationally known as the former home of artists Vanessa Bell and Duncan Grant and the country meeting place of the Bloomsbury group. It opens from the 19th March to 2nd November.
Glyndebourne's opera season runs from May 18th to the end of August. The house and garden at nearby Glynde Place is open to visitors from the beginning of May until the end of August on Wednesdays, Sundays and Bank Holiday Mondays. The Glynde Food & Drink Festival, incorporating the English Wine Festival, will be staged here on the 20th-21st September 2008.
There are a wide selection of interesting walks around Lewes, some of which connect to the long-distance South Downs Way.
